Harding Elementary School
Lebanon, PA
Built in 1918 as a high school, served as a junior high, and renovated in 1971 as an elementary school, this grand old building (104,000 s.f.) was upgraded to today’s educational and safety standards.
With a tight urban setting, traffic flow was enhanced with a safer student drop-off “turning lane.” The playground was refurbished, and part converted into an employee parking lot for employees.
School security improved at the main entrance with double-door vestibule, cameras, and a “buzz in” feature. Accessibility was achieved via a new elevator, a new ramped entrance, and renovations to all toilet rooms.
Replacement thermal windows replicated the original window patterns, and the refurbished façade remains true to its historical design. An infill addition, all new interior finishes and casework, and upgraded mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems round out the interior improvements.
