St. Luke’s Episcopal Church
Lebanon, PA
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is one of the most dramatically beautiful churches in Pennsylvania. Funded by the well known Coleman family in 1889, it has been an honor for Beers + Hoffman to work with the congregation on numerous projects, keeping the special architectural and historical context uppermost in that partnership. In addition to internal improvements in the social wing and new accessible toilets, B+H designed a compatible elevator addition and arranged for a top historic preservation firm to provide a maintenance guide to assist in maintaining the beautiful sandstone and limestone detailing of the church.
In order to create an accessible access to the sanctuary, B+H carefully designed an enclosure for the base of the church’s bell tower, creating a vestibule at the termination of a ramp. The design references the beautiful details of the church and leaves intact the precious details of the structure.
Thank you for your work and dedication that yielded this result!“

While not part of the scope of this particular project with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, we would like to share these images of its historic and ornately appointed sanctuary.
