From the site of a former brewery emerged Beccafico, a fine-dining Southern Italian restaurant co-founded by Executive Chef Sara Elia. The design and renovation celebrates the rich culinary traditions of Southern Italy through a refined, modern space that blends authenticity with elegance. The name “Beccafico,” inspired by a small bird symbolic of abundance and grace, reflects Chef Sara’s Italian heritage and her passion for community, hospitality, and tradition-infused cuisine.

The renovation focused on reconfiguring the space to meet a comprehensive program that included improved kitchen and back-of-house circulation, the addition of a dumbwaiter to the lower-level wine bar, and the relocation of the existing bar.

The dining area was designed to maximize dining capacity while offering versatile spaces for both large and intimate gatherings. A private dining room accommodates up to 24 guests, with the flexibility to host two smaller parties of 12. A semi-private dining area provides a more convivial setting, while a raised dining platform—framed by decorative planters and architectural elements—creates an elevated experience and also serves as a stage for live jazz and musical performances.

Central to the renovation was the repurposing of the original bar top, which was integrated into the new seven-seat bar. Accented with a green mosaic tile façade and backsplash, this feature introduces a bold visual anchor to the space. The overall design preserves the building’s character by retaining the original hardwood flooring and reusing existing lighting fixtures, while infusing a contemporary sensibility
through clean lines, decorative trim molding, and neutral wall tones. Large custom artwork depicting Southern Italian scenes and Sicilian Moor ceramics bring warmth and cultural depth. Gold accents throughout the space add a touch of sophistication.

The completed renovation of Beccafico delivers a welcoming yet elevated dining atmosphere that honors its Italian roots while offering a flexible, communal setting designed for memorable culinary experiences.
