Lebanon City Hall Grand Opening
Lebanon, PA
Speech Given by Robert Hoffman, AIA Emeritus, at the Lebanon City Hall Grand Opening
“As I look around the room, having been a life-long citizen of the City of Lebanon, and bordering on what they call an “old geezer,” I may be one of the few people in this room that actually remembers when City Hall was at 9th and the railroad! But City Hall is no longer at that location and it’s no longer at South 8th Street. It’s in downtown. Where it should be and I have to tell you on behalf of Beers + Hoffman, we congratulate the Mayor and her great team for pulling this off.
I have always thought that, in terms of leadership, leadership sets the tone. You see this in families, in business, and you certainly see it in government. And I tip my hat to this young lady standing next to me for exhibiting tremendous leadership and incredible perseverance as she worked so hard over the years to bring City Hall to this location. Joe Connor and Jon Suhirman and I have had a front row seat during this entire journey, and it has been a pleasure. I see Dave Funk and Jeremy Brandt his incredible foreman. The job that they [Arthur Funk & Sons] did here was wonderful and from our perspective was great to have the opportunity to work with them. It’s a beautiful day outside today and it’s a beautiful day inside as well.
One quick non sequitur, since Beers + Hoffman now has three architects residing in Lebanon County, we are moving our office from the Cumberland Street location to a larger office location, in one of my favorite projects, the Lebanon Farmer’s Market. So we’re essentially going to be neighbors and we look forward to it. Sherry, congratulations!“
