Elizabethtown Residence
Elizabethtown, PA
Having settled into the perfect property to raise their growing family, the owners of this residence sought additional living area and garage space from the existing house. Originally built in the 1980s, the house included a two-car garage and accessory living area, connected by a breezeway. By demolishing the majority of the garage and reconstructing to infill the former breezeway, the overall building footprint was increased by approximately 850 SF, resulting in a total increase of approximately 1,465 SF between the two floors.
Complementing the original home’s cedar siding and modern forms, the addition is comprised of a blend of mid-century and postmodern elements, while maintaining a balance of natural materials and neutral tones. The additional interior space has provided the owners with a welcoming foyer, more accommodating kitchen and pantry area, second living room, guest bedroom and powder room.
