Susquehannock High School Ribbon Cutting
The public opening of the major renovations and additions to the Susquehannock High School occurred on Sunday, November 10, 2024. After nearly three years of construction, 76,086 s.f of new additions were built, 61,521 s.f of former areas were demolished, and 170,010 s.f. of spaces were renovated.
The afternoon open house commenced with groups of students leading the public visitors on walk-throughs of the many updated spaces such as the gymnasium and auditorium and then through the new offices, music wing, science classrooms, library/media center, and student commons area. From the new cafeteria, students also offered hors d’oeuvres prepared from the new Family and Consumer Science culinary kitchen. Uplifting music was played by a student string quartet from the mezzanine level above the crowd.
The well-attended event concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony. On the steps of the common area platform, the Warrior orchestra and choir played a few songs including the school alma mater. After speeches by a few dignitaries, school board members, and superintendent Dr. Robert Bryson, attention moved to the long red ribbon stretched across the library opening.
Firm principal Scott Shonk AIA was honored to assist Dr. Robert Bryson in the cutting of the ribbon with Susan Green, CFOO; Randall Buffington, Director of Buildings & Grounds; Dr. Leonard Reppert, Assistant Superintendent; Dr. James Sterner, Susquehannock High School Principal; Dr. James Hollinger, Southern Elementary School Principal; and Dr. Rob Van Vorst, Shrewsbury Elementary School Principal.
